Honoring Our Veterans

One of The American Legion’s value principles is to HONOR THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE US, which means The American Legion pays perpetual respect for all past military sacrifices to ensure they are never forgotten by new generations.

Here at Post 1187, our Post, Auxiliary, and Riders deliver on this principle through many of our programs and teams:

  • Collecting and delivering care items to the Veterans Community Living Center at Fitzsimmons
  • Our Auxiliary participates in Wreaths Across America by laying wreaths at Cedar Hill Cemetary
  • Our Honor Guard provides many services such for veteran funeral/memorial ceremonies, including “Rendering Military Honors” by the Rifle Squad.  Services also include Color Guard for flag presentation ceremonies. We are also called upon to provide Color Guard services for many types of public functions.
  • Our local Post 1187 Riders have participate in veteran funeral escorts, Dignified Honors Motorcades, memorial services such as wreath laying and flag placement ceremonies.
