The American Legion’s positions on national defense, homeland security, border control and military support are all part of the long-held American Legion value that the key to peace and world stability is a strong, well-resourced defense.

Police Appreciation Day

American Legion Post 1187 Annual Police Appreciation Day is conducted by Unit 1187 Auxiliary in conjunction with Post 1187 and the Post 1187 Riders.

Police Appreciation Day is held at the Castle Rock Police Department located at 100 Perry St. Castle Rock, CO 81014.

Thanking those that serve and protect our community.

National Law Enforcement Officer of the Year

Each year, The American Legion gives its National Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award to a well-rounded law enforcement officer who has exceeded the duty requirements expected of his or her position and has demonstrated a distinct pattern of community service coupled with professional achievement. 

National Firefighter of the Year

Started in 2010, The American Legion gives a National Firefighter of the Year Award to a firefighter who has exceeded the requirements expected of his or her position and has shown a distinct pattern of community service and professional achievement.

The American Legion’s National Security Policy

As one of the Four Pillars it was founded on, the Legion believes national security is upheld by keeping a well-funded Department of Defense, a good quality of life for troops and a sensible transition between service and separation.
