Castle Rock Post 1187 was started in November 1987 and now has over 200 members and is one of the most active Posts in the state, participating in many local activities, school events and related veteran events through out the year.
In addition to these local events/activities, our Post sponsors the Boys State program, sponsors and supports the Oratorical Contest, sponsors a local Cub Scout Troop and partners with the American Heritage Girls for their Wreath Laying memorial ceremonies at Cedar Hill Cemetery as part of National Wreaths Across America Day.
We have an outstanding Post Auxiliary that participates in all our events and activities as well as sponsoring Girls State and support many other local projects and events.
We have an American Legion Riders group that participates in all our activities, plus supporting and participating in their own Veteran events such as memorial escort services and local events and runs.
Castle Rock’s American Legion Post 1187 was named after Master Sergeant Harry C. Miller.
