Memorial Day Ceremonies 2023

Posted by

This morning members of American Legion Post 1187, along with our American Legion Riders and Auxiliary Unit 1187, supported Memorial Day Ceremonies at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Castle Rock and Bear Cañon Cemetery in Sedalia.

In Castle Rock, we had a great turn out from the community, as well as Mayor Jason Gray, members of the Sheriff’s Department, Town Councilmen and other dignitaries. We were assisted in raising the flag by our local Boy Scouts and laying of the wreath by local Cub Scouts. Amidst the setting of a beautiful day, the names of Castle Rock’s Honored Fallen were read out to the assembled guest.

In Sedalia, against the gorgeous backdrop of the Rampart Range, we had a similarly great turn out including Douglas County Commissioner George Teal and members of the Sheriff’s Department, and heard the names of all Veterans buried at Bear Cañon Cemetery read aloud.

That they may be remembered and never forgotten.
