Dave Giboo

COMMANDER

Dave joined the Air Force in 1985 and served as a Fuels Specialist (POL) during his 10 year career. Duty stations include Pope AFB North Carolina, RAF Lakenheath United Kingdom and Offutt AFB Nebraska.

Highlights of his career include being awarded the 3rd Air Force Junior Fuels Technician of the Quarter (Q1 1989) and selected to represent the 3rd Air Force at the 2ATAF international swim competition at NATO Headquarters in Brussels Belgium (1989).

Dave currently works as a Records Manager for the Bureau of Land Management’s National Operations Center in Denver. Dave is a PUFL member of the Legion and has previously been a member of Post 111 in Orland Park Illinois and Post 178 in Lakewood Colorado. Originally from Omaha Nebraska, Dave has been married to his wife Elaine since 1984 and they have five grown children.

BJ Reese

SENIOR VICE COMMANDER

Grew up in Stratton Colorado, joined the Marine Corps in 1991 was stationed in California and Okinawa Japan and South Korea.

Married to MaryJo. I work for Douglas County as a heavy equipment operator. I have 1 son and daughter in law and 1 daughter and son in law and 3 grandsons, also 2 stepsons and a daughter in law and 2 more grandsons.

Christopher Desmond

Junior Vice COMMANDER

Christopher was born and raised NAVY. Son of a career officer, Christopher enlisted in 1985, served on active duty until 1991. He was stationed aboard USS John F. Kennedy, CV67, as an Electronics Technician 2nd Class, Surface Warfare Specialist, and is a Veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

After separating from active duty, Christopher married Sharon and went to Villanova University in Philadelphia. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering. Christopher is a engineer for Verizon and has been in the telecommunications industry since 1997. In 2023 he celebrated being married to Sharon for 32 years.

He is a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and served as All-State Post Commander of VFW Post 6393, Yardley, PA. He has been an active member of Post 1187 since joining in 2021. Christopher and Sharon moved to Castle Pines in 2019 and are very happy to be out West.

Aaron G. Tucker, M.Ed

Junior Vice COMMANDER

After a long 24 year career in the Army and Army National Guard, I retired in 2018. I split my time between the NCO and O ranks across many branches and MOS’s in the Army, ending my career in Space (before it was an official military branch).

I have lived in Castle Rock since 2022 and have called Colorado home since 1999. My two children are now adults so my wife Erika (Auxiliary member) and I enjoy lots of travel while working remotely for our respective companies.

I am in the process improvement field (Lean, Agile, Scrum, Scaled Agile), often consulting or contracting with organizations across several industries, and own an international education and certification company which I started in 2019.

My hobbies consist of hiking, fishing, camping, and reading. I enjoy riding my motorcycle and have joined the AL Riders.

Larry Underwood

Adjutant

I proudly joined the US Army and was inducted in April of 1967. I did my basic training at Ft. Benning Georgia followed by AIT at Ft. Rucker Alabama.

My job during the Vietnam War was as a crewman on a UH1D Iroquois Helicopter designed by Bell Helicopter. Nicknamed the Huey it carried 4 passengers and 2 door gunners. Basically I was a helicopter mechanic on the ground and door gunner in the air.

After my active duty I was stationed at a chemical weapons facility guarding agent orange, napalm, cluster bombs, etc. I was discharged in June of 1973.

I have served at  Post Commander, Senior Vice Commander, Finance Officer, and now as Post Adjutant.

Wayne Turner

Finance Officer

Wayne enlisted in the Navy in 1967, headed for boot camp in San Diego on his 18th birthday. Trained as a Hospital Corpsman at Balboa Naval Hospital, also in San Diego. Was sent to Yokosuka, Japan and assigned to the Naval Hospital. In 1970, Wayne was ordered to Camp Pendleton for training with the Marines then sent to Vietnam and assigned in country with Kilo 3/5 1st Maine Division, then 1st Motor Transport in Danang until April 1971.

After the military, worked 30 years as a Firefighter, then 6 years with Do.County schools. Married to June, 10 children, 12 grandchildren. Past Post Cmdr., District 6 Adjutant, member of Honor Guard.

Dick Harding

Judge Advocate

U.S. Army December 1956 to December 1962. Six months active duty at Fort Dix, N.J. then assigned to Army Reserve National Guard 50th Armored Military Police.

Member of Castle Rock Kiwanis Club & Knights of Columbus. Avid Avalanche & hockey fan.

Tim LaMonda

Veterans Service Officer

Tim enlisted into the Regular Army from Northern California right out of High School in 1989 and served 13 years as a Military Policeman and 11 years as a Career Recruiter for a total of 24 years of active service. He served in Germany, Hawaii, Reno, NV, Sacramento, CA and retired from the Army in Ft. Knox, KY in 2013.

He was awarded (4) Meritorious Servicer Medals, (4) Army Commendation Medals, (7) Army Achievement Medals, (3) Army Superior Unit Awards, (8) Good Conduct Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, (3) National Defense Service Medals, (4) Overseas service ribbon, NATO Medal, and the Glenn E. Morrell Award for Recruiting Excellence.

He currently works for the VA as a Home Loan Specialist, he completed a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Management, a Bachelor’s of Science in Management Communication.

He has been married to his wife Paula since 1998 and they have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren. Tim has a passion for serving Veterans in our Community as our Veteran Service Officer, he also runs his own Veterans of Castle Rock Facebook Group and assists Veterans in his off time.

Richard Dixon

American Legion Riders President

Rich served in the United States Army for 24 years before retiring in 2021. He started his career as a Field Artillery Officer before transitioning into Modeling & Simulations where he built and executed large scale virtual and constructive exercises. Rich has held numerous leadership positions from Platoon Leader through Deputy Brigade Commander both CONUS and overseas. He has participated in training events in the PACOM, EUCOM, and NORTHCOM Areas of Operation and deployed twice to Iraq. Rich graduated from the Virgina Military Institute with a BS in Biology and completed his master’s degree in behavioral sciences from Cameron University. His military education includes Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Field Artillery Advanced Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College, the Simulations Operations Course, Intermediate Simulation Operations Course and a number of targeting schools
His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with one oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with four oak leaf clusters, and the Combat Action Badge.
Rich is currently a Program Manager for Northrop Grumman working in the Space sector, lives in Castle Rock, CO with his wife Amanda and their four children, volunteers with a variety of Veteran Service Organizations, and enjoys riding his motorcycle, attending concerts, and watching football and rugby.

Lori Underwood-Waldrip

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1187 President

Lori is proud to be the granddaughter of a World War II veteran and the daughter of a Vietnam veteran.

Lori joined the Unit 1187 Auxiliary in 2017, served as Unit Historian from 2018-2019 and has been Unit President since 2019.

A graduate of the University of Colorado at Denver, Lori currently works in philanthropy for FOCUS (the Fellowship of Catholic University Students).

Jay Archie

Born and raised in Camden, NJ. Enlisted into the USAF right out of high school and served uninterrupted active until I a retired Master Sergeant, from July 7, 1978 – April 1, 1999. Went to Basic Training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio TX Jul – Aug 78, then to Keelser AFB Biloxi MS Aug – Oct 78.

Duty assignments were Gibbsboro AFS, NJ Oct 78 – Jan 81, Tatalina AS AK Feb 81 – Feb 82, Cape Cod AFS Mar 82 – Mar 83, back to Keelers for more training apr 83 – May 83, Tempelhof Central Airport, Berlin GE Jun 83 – Nov 90, Peterson AFB CO Dec 90 – Nov 93, Woomera AS Australia Dec 93 – Jun 96, back to Peterson AFB CO for more training Jun and Jul 96, Clear AS AK Aug 96 – Aug 97, Buckley AFB Sep 97 until retirement 1 Apr 1999.

Significant Awards were AF Meritorious Medal with 3 Oak Leaf cluster, A Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster, AF Achievement Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster and the Army Occupation Medal. Significant duties were Air Defense, Space and Missile Early defense including Satellite and Missile tracking, Satellite Systems Engineer and Intelligence. Member of the VFW and American Legion.

Unmarried but with two sons, Zach and Josh.

Mike Hanson

Born in the Panama Canal Zone and raised in Nebraska, I have called Colorado home since 1996. I graduated from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and hold a Master’s degree in Management from University of Phoenix.

My journey began with service in the Air National Guard from 1991 to 1999. I currently thrive in the software industry, specializing in sales.

Beyond my professional life, I am actively involved with the Knights of Columbus and the Eagles Fraternal Group. I am also a proud parent to my son, Zachary.
