American Legion Department Service Officer Comes Through for Veteran

When American Legion Harry C Miller Post 1187 member Keith Kay returned from Iraq in 2008, he was surprised and frustrated that the VA wouldn’t approve his tinnitus claim.

“Despite having been in sustained combat, and having our tiny firebase mortared and rocketed every week, lacking a LOD (line of duty finding) the VA felt I lacked sufficient proof for tinnitus. I just wanted to get on with my life and gave up on it.” Keith explained.

That was before he met The American Legion Department of Colorado’s Veteran Service Officer, Mr. Will Davis.

“I went to a PACT Act presentation here in Castle Rock sponsored by the American Legion Harry C Miller Post 1187, and Mr Davis convinced me to give it another try. The fact that he was a fellow Veteran and had been through his own struggles with the VA gave me a lot of confidence to take another shot at it.”

With Mr. Davis’s help and advocacy, Keith received his service connected tinnitus rating in October. In an era with claim sharks everywhere on social media, and Congress refusing to act to stop it, American Legion Veteran Service Officers are here to provide expert assistance, always free of charge.

“Veterans need to know they should not be paying for claims help when there are people like Mr. Davis in every Veteran Service Organization ready to help.” Keith added.

Colorado Veterans in need, whether Legion member or not, can contact Mr Will Davis at (303)914-5585 or william.davis1@va.gov or contact us at Post 1187 at contact@post1187.coloradolegion.org
