Reminder to all Legionnaires that our next regular Post meeting is on September 21st at 7 PM. Our speaker this month is Todd Kramer from Warrior Now / Veterans Treatment Court.
Todd’s military career started in the early 80’s, serving as a Security Police/Law Enforcement Specialist in the USAF. After that tour, life turned dark as he struggled with the family disease of alcoholism. With the help of community, he was able to achieve sobriety in 1996 and has participated in his own recovery ever since.
Fast forward to post 9/11, Todd joined the Army as a Combat MP and experienced a very messy tour to Iraq where all his men didn’t come home, and now his MP company has set suicide records. At this point Todd was a Mechanical Engineer, however that occupation just didn’t make sense to him anymore. He was suffering all the “isms” of combat and he knew that he had to not only connect but immerse himself into the Veteran community. That’s when he became a volunteer Mentor for a local Veterans Treatment Court (VTC).
Six months into it, he was offered a job to coordinate the Mentor program for the Colorado 18th Judicial VTC. Todd has been on a journey to say the least, but when you find your purpose, the mission is unstoppable, and he absolutely Loves his job! It has literally saved his life!
Come hear more about Todd and the Veterans Treatment Court next Thursday, we hope to see you there.
