On Saturday May 20th, the American Legion Harry C. Miller Post 11877, along with our Auxiliary Unit 1187 and Post 1187 Riders, held our annual Armed Forces Day celebration. As we wrote in a previous post, Armed Forces Day is a day to acknowledge our Service Members and their sacrifices, dedication, and unwavering commitment to preserving peace and freedom.
See all the luncheon photos here.
Commander Mike McNairy and Auxiliary President Lori Waldrip kicked off the luncheon, and we had a great program of events including the Presentation of the Colors by our Honor Guard, the singing of our National Anthem by Andrea Underwood, the POW/MIA Table Ceremony, the Military Child’s Table Ceremony, and guest speakers sharing their knowledge of revolutionary life by the Patriot Chest presenters of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Commander McNairy also presented the Burn’n Burbon Award to Larry Underwood for all his tireless efforts serving Post 1187, District 6, and the Department of Colorado.
The Auxiliary also held a fun Basket raffle with some great take home prizes. We concluded with a solemn Folding of the Flag ceremony and Benediction.
A special thanks for our Guests of Honor – Department of Colorado Commander Annette Johnson and Jesse Montoya Department of Colorado Sergeant at Arms, we appreciate you taking the time to attend.
Thanks to everyone who came out and especially everyone who put the event together.
