During our regular May meeting on May 18th at 7 PM, American Legion Post 1187 will welcome Tim Swanson from Folds of Honor as our monthly speaker.
Tim Swanson has been teaching high school since 1999 and his most current position is with Cherry Creek School District. Raised in Colorado since 1982, Tim has spent the last decade involved with the Folds of Honor cause since 2012. His grandfather Philip (still alive) served in the US Navy at Leyte Gulf actions in WWII. Grandpa came home and had a good life as an oil engineer. He and his wife Maxine have been married 75 years now (both are still alive as of 2023). Tim honors both his grandfather’s life and the power of education by doing volunteer work for the national Folds of Honor. Honoring their sacrifice. Educating their legacy.
The Folds of Honor Foundation rallies a nation to ensure that no family is left behind in the fight to preserve American freedom. Through scholarships and other assistance, Folds of Honor gives back to the spouses and children of soldiers fallen or disabled in service to our country. As of 9/11/22, Folds of Honor also offers scholarships to the families of fallen and disabled law enforcement and first responders as well. Folds of Honor and the Colorado Patriots Chapter provide healing, hope, and an opportunity for dreams realized…with the support of people like you. We feel this is our duty as citizens of the greatest country in the world. As an official chapter, the money we raise comes back to Veteran families in the state of Colorado. Since 2012, the Colorado Patriots have held sixteen (17) fundraisers in Parker and Colorado Springs over twelve (12) years raising sixty-two (62) scholarships totaling over $310,000. Our 2022 events raised a total of twenty (20) scholarships, making it our best effort to date.
In addition to Tim’s briefing, we will be conducting Officer elections, please see the email from Larry for more information.
